The NIHR RDS: supporting researchers to develop high quality research proposals

Welcome to the National Institute for Health Research Research Design Service South East (NIHR RDS SE) website.

We provide help to people preparing research proposals for submission to peer-reviewed funding programmes in applied health and social care. See who is eligible for support. We cover the counties of Kent, Surrey and Sussex.

Advice and practical support is provided free of charge and is available through research clinics, face-to-face, by telephone and email.




Kent and Medway health partnerships – expanding our research activities

This event will celebrate four years of research activity in Kent and Medway, featuring a market place with 40 stands showcasing local clinical priorities, research networks, local trusts and universities.

University of Kent Grants Factory event: Understanding and applying to the National Institute for Health Research

10 May 2012, University of Kent, Canterbury
This one day event will provide an in depth explanation of the NIHR, its infrastructure and its funding programmes. Workshops tailored to project preparation will be followed by an application clinic where RDS SE advisors will provide advice on proposals.

RDS SE newsletter published

The new RDS SE newsletter reports good news of the extension of the Research Design Service to all NIHR research funding programmes. It also features an interview with Patient and Public Involvement team lead Duncan Barron, the work of the new RDS SE pre-submission panel, new NIHR funding programmes and details the latest NIHR Research for Patient Benefit research funding successes in the South East.
