Dr Jeewaka Mendis (Research Adviser)
Dr Jeewaka Mendis is a Senior Medical Statistician at the University of Surrey where he serves as the lead statistician within the Surrey Clinical Trials Unit, Surrey Clinical Research Facility and also to the NIHR Research Design Service South-East.
During his PhD in Medical Statistics at the university of Leicester he researched extensively on evidence synthesis methods such as meta-analysis, meta-regression, indirect comparison and network meta-analysis. For PhD thesis, he developed novel methodologies to design new clinical trials using evidence synthesis methods.
He is vastly experienced in applying statistical methods across a range of disciplines including agriculture, finance, healthcare and medicine. He has a wealth of experience involved in the whole life cycle of clinical trials from the design, conduct, monitoring through to the analysis and reporting of clinical trials of all phases and sizes pertaining to wide range of therapeutic areas.
He also supports researchers in developing grant applications to various funding streams. He runs statistics workshops to PhD/MD students across all faculties of the university and also the course leader in Surrey winter/summer statistics schools.
Jeewaka has co-authored many publications.
