Kay provides advice on Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) and how it can be embedded into proposals for research funding. Kay has undertaken a postgraduate course on PPI at King’s College London, and has both an academic understanding of historical and current debates in the area and practical experience of advising researchers about the ways of involving service users in research design.
Kay also reviews funding proposals, providing feedback on the extent and quality of PPI; she is also working in collaboration with RDS SE PPI team members to examine the growing area of the impact of patient and public involvement on research, specifically how the RDS SE can add to the evidence base.
As well as her PPI work, Kay facilitates on various aspects of the running of the RDS SE and on research bids including: finances, submission processes, and funding streams. Kay also sits on various RDS SE working groups, and provides administrative support to the RDS SE’s Surrey site.
