We offer free research design advice and methodological support to health and social care researchers who are developing an application to a suitable funding body.
Watch our video interview with David Crook, senior research adviser at the RDS SE, on the support available to researchers:
Why do I need help?
Most funding streams have particular requirements and it is helpful to find out about these from experienced researchers. The Research for Patient Benefit Programme for example has a strong emphasis in involving the public in the design and execution of research. Applications to the NIHR Health Technology Assessment Programme should involve a clinical trials unit.
We can help in putting together a team, including methodologists, statisticians, health economists and epidemiologists.
When should I seek help?
The sooner the better.
Up to eight weeks before the submission deadline may give us enough time to help you, but it depends on how well formed your proposal is. Four weeks before the deadline is the very least amount of time we will need to help you. And remember, we will be working on a number of proposals, so time nearer a deadline will be limited.
